Step-up transformers are widely used in all power stations to increase the voltage to higher levels for transmission. They are a key component of the power generation system. In general, these transformers are ordered with off-circuit regulation systems, even though they can also be ordered with on-load tap changers. For units of larger power, they can be manufactured with three single-phase transformer banks
