NEWS. Opening of the "Nueva Pilar" Thermal Power Plant - 05/21/2010
The "Nueva Pilar" Thermal Power Plant, which EPEC had started building in May 2008, was recently launched in Córdoba. TTE participated in the project by supplying the transformers.
The new plant features two Siemens gas turbines (GT) - 157 MW each - that will work in closed cycle after the works for a steam turbine (ST) are finished, which will add up to approximately 480 MW in the second semester of 2011. The works include a transformer station with one transformer per generator, a back-up transformer for auxiliary services and operation and control equipment. Additionally, due to the increased power in the region, a double three-strand 132-kV cable running from the Pilar Power Plant to the city of Córdoba was constructed.
Shortly, Tubos Trans Electric (TTE) will deliver the main 215 MVA 15.75/135 kV step-up transformer, which will add up to the 3 auxiliary transformers - two 21 MVA 15.75kV transformers and one 12 MVA 132 kV transformer - delivered in September and October 2009.
The plant will help avoid the overload of transformers at the Malvinas Argentinas and Almafuerte transformer stations and of transmission lines powering the city of Córdoba.
With this new supply, TTE reaffirms its presence in the local market and its commitment to the development of the country.
